A website shows you a chapter. The app keeps your place, your saved verses and your notes, and it is there in church, on a plane, or wherever the signal fails.
Find any verse
By reference, “Psalm 50”, or by the words you remember.
No connection needed
The whole Bible is stored in the app.
Save and annotate
Saved verses and notes, kept only on your phone.
Share a verse
As a quiet image card.
Plain to read
Adjustable text size, in a calm design.
Nothing asked
No account, no ads and no tracking.
Finding books by their Septuagint names
Septuagint editions name some books differently. The app uses the names most English readers know, so here is where to look.
| Septuagint name | Name in the app |
|---|---|
| 1 Kingdoms | 1 Samuel |
| 2 Kingdoms | 2 Samuel |
| 3 Kingdoms | 1 Kings |
| 4 Kingdoms | 2 Kings |
| 1 and 2 Paralipomenon | 1 and 2 Chronicles |
| Wisdom of Solomon | Wisdom |
| Wisdom of Sirach (Ecclesiasticus) | Sirach |
The psalms keep the Septuagint numbers: Psalm 22 is the shepherd psalm, Psalm 50 the psalm of repentance.
Where to begin
If the Septuagint is new to you, start where the Church starts.
The Psalms
The prayer book of the Church. Psalm 50 is part of the morning prayers.
Proverbs
Short and practical, and read at Vespers through Great Lent.
The daily readings
The app opens each day’s Epistle and Gospel for your church, so Scripture becomes part of the day.

Questions
Can I read the Septuagint on this website?
No. The text is in the free Orthodox Bible & Calendar app for iPhone, where it is searchable, keeps your notes, and works with or without a connection. The whole Bible is free, with no account.
Do I need the internet to read it?
No. The Bible is stored in the app, so it opens anywhere, even in airplane mode. Only the audio recordings stream, and with Premium you can download those too.
Which Septuagint translation is it?
Sir Lancelot Brenton's English translation of 1844, with the King James New Testament.
How do I find a verse?
Search by reference, such as Psalm 50 or Isaiah 9:6, or by a few words you remember. Remember that the psalms use Septuagint numbers: Psalm 23 in most Bibles is Psalm 22.
Is there an Android or web version?
Not for now. The app is for iPhone and Apple Watch.
